Takes one of Isaac's familiars chosen on random and places it on the machine.

Touching the machine again will upgrade the placed familiar for the cost displayed on the machine.

Familiars can be upgraded 2 times. Their current upgrade is indicated by a golden crown over their head for the first level, and a platinum one for the second one.

Upgraded familiars have improved abilities, such as shooting faster or dealing more damage. For detailed information about how each familiar is upgraded, check their respective item pages.

The machine can have different appearances and cost based on the room it spawned in:
• Angel: no requirement, upgrade is free
• Bedroom: requires a

Soul Heart
• Devil: requires 1 heart container.
• Shop: requires 10¢

Each use of the machine has a chance to break it, starting at and increasing by 5% each use.

The Shop variant increases by 7%, while the Angel one starts at 50%, and is increased by 25% each use.

Once a familiar has been placed on the machine, it can only be retrieved via an explosion.

Curse of the Blind will hide the familiar's icon when placed on the machine.

The machine cannot be blown up via an explosion.
